Role Description
Teenage Narrator for Talking Books Vision Australia records a wide variety of material at the Kooyong studios, ranging from popular, mainstream titles and award winners to airport reads and romantic novels. Currently we’re after male and female late teenagers or young adults with a really good vocal range who can make a book reach a younger audience, as titles available are a first-person narration story. The narrator must be able to confidently record novels from our library collection. We require a sensitive and intelligent interpretation of the fiction material, understanding how to express and pace it accordingly. This role would suit a secondary or university student who is either studying Drama or is enthusiastic about Literature and has an expressive, clear voice. The narrator will also be able to pre-read/prepare the book. Prospective teenage/young adult narrators must be available for a 3–hour recording session, whilst operating the equipment in the studios at Kooyong at least once a week from Monday to Friday, not weekends. Ideally this would be a great role, once a week right after school if possible. Please note that all suitable applications must provide a voice sample and/or undergo the completion of a reading audition.
